JUNIOR TOURNAMENT
8th of April

It was full house at the Spyros Kyprianou Sporting Center, Saturday 8/4/06 for the Junior Squash Open. Around 20 players participated, from Limassol and Nicosia as well. Plus there was plenty of support from family and friends.

We were divided into 3 groups, according to age and ability, each person playing between 5-7 games, consequently there was action in all three courts. We have to admit there were children we’d never seen before, but some of them seemed to know how to play squash with astounding technique, and young talent was noticeable.

The atmosphere was friendly, both wins and losses were accepted without (much) complaint by all the players. It was an exhausting day requiring lots of energy to face difficult and decisive matches but, by the end of the competition we were all grateful we’d got that far.

Congratulations to Andreas, Yiannis and Ivan and to the rest…THERE IS ALWAYS A NEXT TIME! Every player received a medal and had their picture taken with the coach to mark the event (click here to view the pictures).

Finally many thanks must go to our coach, Mrs Vaso Karasava for once again organizing a successful tournament, providing refreshments and the all-important medals which we were all proud to receive.
